COUPLES THERAPY

Couples Therapy offers an opportunity to develop a rewarding and loving relationship. With warmth and humor, I actively guide couples through difficult times to deepen relationships and develop secure attachment. Using the evidence-based model Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), I support couples to identify their negative cycle, explore its roots, normalize it, and transform it so that each person can reach for the other in a new, more heartfelt way.

Getting angry, defensive, and shutting down are common strategies people use to protect themselves from the pain of disconnection. I create a safe place in which you both feel heard and understood and respond to each other in a new way, allowing intimacy to bloom.

Emotionally Focused Therapy, developed by Dr. Sue Johnson, has been rigorously tested with over twenty five years of research. According to a meta-analysis of the most comprehensive studies 70-73% of couples recover from marital distress and 90% of couples report significant improvement.
